Trent Edwards was released by the Bills on Monday, and already has found a new home south of Buffalo. The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed Edwards off waivers on Tuesday.
The Jaguars are 1-2, and the play of David Garrard is not helping. Luke McCown was the only other quarterback on the team. But in San Diego two weeks ago, McCown replaced Garrard only to then go down with a torn ligament that will keep him out for the whole season.
Todd Bouman also was signed by the Jaguars. Though mostly just because he already knows the offence.
Edwards, a third round pick out of Stanford in 2007. Always playing inconsistent in Buffalo and was constantly splitting snaps with Ryan Fitzpatrick. A fresh start in Jacksonville, and the guarantee of playing time with how bad Garrard is, could mean a chance for redemption and to get his career on track.
Buffalo re-signed rookie QB Levi Brown to take Edwards spot.
Overall, a good move by both Buffalo and Jacksonville. Although a more experienced quarterback might have been nicer. Maybe Jeff Garcia who right now is in the UFL could be a better pick up.
New Orleans also signed 46 year old kicker John Carney, and Seattle signed veteran receiver Brandon Stokely while releasing RB Quinton Ganther, and OL Mansfield Wrotto and Mike Gibson.
