NFL Playoff predictions

    Well, the Seahawks beat the Rams, and i bit my tongue on the Charlie Whitehurst rip I wrote. But Hasselbeck will be starting in Seattle's playoff game.

These are my playoff predictions for 2011:\

WILD CARD:

Colts over Jets 37-27
    Peyton Manning is just too good and will lead Colts over disappointed Jets. Colt's D will also play at a high level.

Ravens over Cheifs 30-16
    My original Super Bowl pick will turn it up a notch and win. Chiefs are not ready to win in playoffs. But I'm not sure Cassel can play at this level again next season.

Packers over Eagles 20-17
    Michael Vick will keep Eagles in game, but Packers know they are best team in NFC North and will be on a mission not to disappoint this season.

Seahawks WR Ben Obomamu

Seahawks over Saints 24-21
    I''m calling it. The 7-9 Seahawks will beat the defending Super Bowl champs. The underdogs will have a sold out crowd, be loud, and the Saints two running backs are out. I like the Seahawks chances here in an upset victory.

Divisional Round:

Colts over Steelers 28-20
    Colts find a way to win and Manning shreds Steelers secondary for a big day. Colts advance to AFC Championship.

Patriots LB Jerod Mayo

Patriots over Ravens 38-21
    No one is better then Pats right now. Brady and the Pats avenge last years wild card loss with a big step towards another Super Bowl.

Bears over Seahawks 34-17
    Even though Seattle won earlier this year, Bears wont let it happen again. Chicago keeps rolling to     
                                                  second Super Bowl in five years.


Falcons over Packers 30-24 (OT)
    This game could go any way, and Packers could very easily win. But Atlanta is determined to win and will in my opinion due to leadership of Ryan. Great game earlier this season, and the second time around will be nothing less. Could be best game of playoffs.


Conference Championships:

Patriots over Colts 36-30

Falcons WR Roddy White

    Pats are just so good this year. That's what it comes down to. Manning can't pull the upset and get Colts to Dallas.

Falcons over Bears 17-9

     Falcons ready to get to Super Bowl and show they are for real, and will be for the coming years.


Super Bowl XLV

Falcons over Patriots 38-35

    Most have Pats winning whole thing and renewing the dynasty. But I say that New England looses in Super Bowl for second straight time. Falcons offense will soar, as will New England's. A shootout in Dallas, and a last seconed field goal (which Pats know all bout in Super Bowls, just not ones by the other tea) will give Atlanta the win. Falcons win first Super Bowl ever.

Moss already out of Minnesota

    On the first day of November, Randy Moss has been released from the Minnesota Vikings. A surprise to most people, Moss had been reunited with his first team for just under a month.

    Moss, who came from New England for a third round pick on October 6th, is now on waivers.

    "This decision was made based on what we thought was in the best interests of the Minnesota Vikings, both in the short and long [term]. We wish Randy the best as he moves forward in his career." head coach Brad Childress said.

    Moss had only one catch in his return to New England on Sunday.

    The Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins are supposedly the two teams showing the most interest in the wide receiver.

    A shock to many, including myself, that Moss was waived. I fully expected him to finish out the season with the Vikings. But with this news, a new team is almost certain for Moss before Sunday.


    I think the Seattle Seahawks make a lot of sense. Pete Carrol would keep him under controll, and he would get solid playing time. Matt Hasselbeck would love to throw to him, and i could see Moss having a great end to this year with the 'Hawks.

    Though moving his family completely across the country may not be ideal for Moss and could impact this decision.

    For now though, Moss will be looking for his third team in only eight weeks.

New NFL hit rules

    The NFL has now issued new rules to how players can hit and tackle others. In the week that just wrapped up with a Titans 30-3 win over the Jaguars on Monday night football.
    The NFL has said that it will suspend and fine players for illegal, and dangerous hits. Mostly ones involving the helmet which as we all know, can lead to serious injury and end of careers. 
     Three players are already seeing that the NFL is serious about this new rule. Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather had two helmet-helmet hits in last Sundays win over the Ravens. Both were on Ravens tight end Todd Heap. Meriweather apologized after the game in the locker room. He is fined $50k.
     Dunta Robinson, the new Falcons corner back had a hit that almost made you turn away last Sunday. Eagles wide receiver DeShean Jackson was hit by Robinson helmet to helmet. Jackson is questionable for this Sundays game at Tennessee. Robinson was fined $25k.
     But the one the one player and his fine that are making the most attention is the Steelers James Harrison. Harrison had a big hit on Browns receiver Mohamed Massaquoi that knocked him out of the game. But Harrison is very unhappy with all of this, as many other players are. Harrison is contemplating retirement and is missing practice Wednesday. Harrison also had a hit on Browns receiver Josh Cribbs that sent Cribbs out of the game.
     His agent Bill Parise has stated that "This is a very serious issue. James is very concerned about how to play football. If James is going to be fined $75k for making a legal tackle, then how do you go play football?"
     While some hits are illegal and should not be tolerated, I think the NFL has gone overboard. While the hits are dangerous, they are part of the game.
      If it was up to me, the hits are allowed as it is part of the game. But the obvious ones used to cause injury are not tolerated and should cause suspension.

Randy Moss Returns to Minnesota

    Randy Moss is returning back to where his Hall of Fame career began, Minnesota.  The New England Patriots traded Moss to the Minnesota Vikings Tuesday for a third round draft pick.

   The Vikings needed another option for Brett Favre while Sidney Rice is injured. Moss, who may not stick around after this year, is what management thought could fill the gap and help the Vikings make the playoff push.
  
    The Vikings who are 1-2 need help to win the tough division with the Packers and Bears who are both out to good starts.

    Minnesota drafted Randy Moss in 1998 with the 21st pick. Teams passed on the Marshall alumni due to off the field issues. But Moss helped Minnesota to a top ranked offense in 1998, won rookie of the year, and a 15-1 record. 

    New England may have let Moss go due to a reported argument between Moss and a coach during halftime of Mondays win against the Miami Dolphins.

    Minnesota trading for Moss may help a little, but I do not see it as enough to help the Vikings get to the playoffs.
